Here’s a heart-warming Rocket Mortgage Classic story with a Canton connection

Elaine Lorenz, a longtime golf fan and resident of Canton’s Waltonwood Cherry Hill, has been given a special invitation to attend the Rocket Mortgage Classic this week.

Introduced to golf in her 50s by her late husband, Elaine Lorenz still embraces a love for the sport several years later in the wake of a severe stroke that curtailed her playing days.

To recognize Lorenz’s unyielding passion for the sport, the Canton Waltonwood Cherry Hill senior living complex where she resides is collaborating with Rocket Mortgage to give her a golf adventure she’ll never forget.

Lorenz, who has carried on her family’s golf tradition by inspiring her daughter to play, will be a special guest (along with her daughter) at this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic, which will be hosted by the Detroit Golf Club Thursday through Sunday.

The special opportunity is part of Waltonwood Senior Living’s Adventures by Waltonwood program, a personalized life enrichment benefit offering residents activities tailored to their own interests.

Unforgettable adventures

In addition to the amazing experience awaiting Lorenz, Waltonwood has arranged for residents to experience helicopter rides, cherished long-lost reunions with loved ones and spending a day as a florist designing arrangements, to name a few.

The mother and daughter golf fans will be able to view the PGA tournament from Club Ace, a premium hospitality experience located behind the course’s 15th green.

The Lorenzes will also have an opportunity to meet their favorite PGA golfers — and Rocket Mortgage has helped plan for a completely accessible day that accommodates Lorenz’s post-stroke mobility needs.

‘Enduring love for golf’

“Elaine’s enduring love for golf, despite the challenges life has thrown her way, serves as a remarkable testament to the human spirit and the shared belief that age is not a barrier to pursuing one’s passions,” a Waltonwood representative shared.
