Restauranteurs excited for opening of Local Tavern Bar & Grill

If you visit Canton’s newly-opened The Local Tavern Bar & Grill (44282 Warren Road) in search of great food, amazing atmosphere and a fun experience, you won’t be disappointed.

That’s a promise from the business’s day-to-day operations manager Michael Berrios, a 30-year veteran of the restaurant industry.

“We’ve been doing this a long time and we know how to make people happy,” said Berrios. “We have a sense of urgency — our owners and our staff — to create an atmosphere of happiness.

“Our food is phenomenal. We focus on fresh, home-made ingredients. For instance, the basil tomato sauce served with our Tuscan Chicken Pasta is home-made. We know what people want when they go out and we don’t disappoint.”

A happy place

The Local Tavern Bar & Grill, which celebrates a soft opening Tuesday, Aug. 29, is the fourth establishment to open at the location in the past 10 years. It follows in the “food”-steps of the Local North Taphouse and Grill, which closed shop in June after a 13-month run.

“This is a great location for a restaurant,” Berrios said. “But to be successful, like we will be, it takes people running it who care. I’ll be here every day, every minute. If a customer has a problem, I’ll be at their table in a second and we’ll figure it out.

“We care about our staff. We treat them like family. If they’re having problems — let’s say with their girlfriend or boyfriend — we tell them don’t come to work that day, we’ll figure it out.”

The interior of the restaurant is warm and welcoming with a well-staffed bar area, just enough big-screen TVs to offer patrons an opportunity to watch a variety of sporting events and other entertainment, and well-spaced booths and tables.

‘It’s a beautiful place’

“We made a few changes when we bought it,” said Barrios, “but nothing major. It’s a beautiful place.”

Overseeing the kitchen will be Chef Benito, a hands-on part-owner whose culinary experience is as rich as his home-made tomato basil sauce.

“Benito is a great, great chef,” Berrios said. “The food that comes out of that kitchen — oh my gosh it’s good.”

The eatery’s selection of entrees has something for everyone — from lobster ravioli and shrimp, to fish & chips, to filet mignon.

Something for everybody

Patrons can also choose from a wide variety of flatbreads, salads, sandwiches, sides and soups — and a South of the Border menu.

(A word of advice from the author of this article: The cheese curds are off-the-charts delicious.)

The Tavern offers daily drink and food specials, including a 10-for-10 sandwich and salad offering Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. that includes large $10 servings (with the purchase of a beverage) that comes with kettle chips.

There is also a half sandwich plus soup or salad combo from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with turkey club, caprese panini, reuden, BLT, Carolina BBQ pork slider and chicken philly among the options.

Happy Hour specials

And that’s not all — Happy Hour (3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday) offers nine discount sides and $2 off house wines, 50% off draft beers and 50% off well drinks.

Offerings that will make you happy.

Michael Berrios guarantees it.

The Local Tavern Bar & Grill is open daily at 11 a.m.
